-Instructions for TS-8 Probe-

Detectron Product Instructions     TS-8 Probe

Connect the TS/8 Probe by inserting plug into receptacle labeled "Precision Depth Probe" located on panel of 505 "Go-Fer" Receiver. By plugging in the TS/8 Probe, the antenna of the 505 "Go-Fer" is automatically disconnected. Signals received by the sensing coil in the probe are amplified through the Receiver circuit.

Operation of the Pipe & Cable locator is the same when utilizing the TS/8 Probe as described in the 505 "Go-Fer" Operating Manual except in the "on-handle" operation.

When using the TS/8 Probe for pipe or cable locating, coil should be in line with handle. For determining depths, adjust coil to 45 degree angle.

1. FIELD TUNING

Your TS/8 Probe was adjusted at the factory for operation with typical Model 505 "Go-Fer" Locator. The TS/8 Probe should operate well with your 505 "Go-Fer" with NO further adjustment. However, due to slight differences in locators, some improvements may be possible by tuning a TS/8 Probe for use with a specific locator.

Remove the white nylon screw from the tip of the yellow search coil. A small screwdriver type slot adjustment will be noted at the bottom of this screw hole. This is the tuning adjustment capacitor. Connect the TS/8 Probe to Receiver. Turn on both the Receiver and the Transmitter. Transmitter should be in inductive mode and placed about 20 to 25 feet from the Receiver.

Adjust gain/sensitivity control for slight reading on the signal intensity meter. Turn the TS/8 Probe "Tuning Control" for maximum obtainable reading on the meter. Reduce gain/sensitivity control as necessary to keep meter indicator on scale during tuning operation. Replace nylon screw. Instrument is ready for use.
